Please note PING now requires a serial number for replacement S56 irons to match your existing set of irons.
S56
Already a major winner, this blade design appeals to players who put a premium on shot control. A steel body with variable tungsten toe weighting positions the CG for higher-launching long irons and more controlled short irons. Machined face and grooves ensure consistent performance and precise control.
Its Stabilizing Bar Technology varies in width throughout the set to optimize each iron's CG location. In the long irons the bars are narrower to generate more distance from faster ball speeds and higher trajectories. The bars progress wider through the short irons to generate penetrating, controlled trajectories.
COLOR CODE
There are 12 PING color codes, each representing a different lie angle. Lie angle is the measurement of the angle between the sole of the club and the centerline of the shaft, PING generally recommends more upright color codes for taller players and flatter color codes for shorter golfers.
LENGTH
Length is a determining factor in the distance the ball will travel. PING generally recommends slightly longer shafts for taller players and slightly shorter shafts for shorter players.
GRIP OPTIONS
Ping offers a wide variety of grip styles and sizes to meet every golfer's preferences. Grip size is also an important fitting variable since it affects the release of a golfer's hands through the impact area. Thinner grips tend to encourage the release, which can cause a draw or a hook, or help a golfer compensate for a fade or slice. Thicker grips tend to inhibit the release, which can cause a fade or a slice, or help a golfer compensate for a draw or hook. PING color-coded grips are manufacturered in different thicknesses for different hand sizes. Your hand length and the length of your longest finger are used to determine the neutral grip size, which neither encourages nor inhibits your release.
